7/7 Ride - Kestrel to Hulls Gulch

Because next Monday is a holiday, we are going to push our ride to Thursday the 7th.

We are going back to the oldies but goodies, up Kestrel and down through Hulls Gulch. Such a fun ride and completely do-able for everyone! Let's plan on meeting at Camel's Back Parking lot (right off of 13th street) to be on the trail by 7:00.

We can hit up Hyde Park afterwards for a cold cocktail!

Let us know if you can make it. Hope to see everyone there!

Save the Dates - I believe we will be doing Corrals on 7/11 and then TableRock on 7/18.

6/27 Ride - Eagle Bike Park

Monday's ride will be held at the Eagle Bike Park. Plan on meeting there at 7:00. We'll more than likely do the Junkyard trail, but there will be plenty of options to choose from. I know many girls are hoping to pass on knowledge from the recent trip to Trek's Dirt Series bike camp, so we may do a quick skills session before the ride if people are interested.

Bring any food/drinks you may want afterwards. For those of you who haven't been there, there is a nice little pavilion area we like to rendezvous in after the ride.

Directions: From State Street, head North on "N Horseshoe Bend Road". This is the road just east of Highway 55 (right by WINCO). Stay on this road for a few miles and you will see the park to your right. You can also type in "Idaho Velodrome and Cycling Park" into mapquest to get directions. The park website is at http://eaglebikepark.org/visiting/maps/ which also has directions.

Hope to see you all there!

6/20 Ride - Military Reserve

Kath and Cacia will be leading this Monday's ride through various trails at Military Reserve. Plan on meeting at the parking lot across from the dog park (Fort Boise Park) near the baseball field (nearest cross roads - Mountain Cove Rd and Reserve St) to be on the trail by 6:30.

It's forecasted to be 77 and sunny! Perfect day for a ride. Hope to see everyone there!

6/13 Ride - Redtail Ridge Loop

It should be 77 degrees and sunny this Monday so everyone needs to come out for a great ride.

We'll be riding a variation of the Redtail Ridge Loop. It is singletrack, not too technical, but definitely has some climbs to it (do-able for everyone). We will start on the trail by 7:00. Let me know if you can make it!

Directions: This ride is immediately north of Hidden Springs. Hidden Springs can be reached via Seaman's Gulch Road (the road to the Ada County landfill). Take Seaman's over the top of the foothills (it is like 4 miles or so), turn right on Dry Creek Road. Follow that a couple miles and you should see the Current Creek trailhead parking lot on the right. Hope to see everyone there.

New Items

Cacia has created a Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dirt-Dolls/232662630082308 which will be another way to check on rides, let us know if you're coming, or just keep updated in general. Thanks Cacia!

Also - we have created an email account specifically for letting people know about rides so next week you should start receiving the emails from "Dirt Dolls". :)

Bike Camp 2011 - Bend OR

Nine of us just got back from an awesome trip to Bend, OR for a women's mountain bike camp. The Trek Dirt Series travels the U.S. and Canada throughout the year to teach mountain biking skills to women at all levels. You break up into groups depending on your ability and learn a ton of fundamental skills and then go on a different ride each night. It is such a great experience! Their website is http://www.dirtseries.com/ for anyone interested in future camps. Hopefully we can convince them to come to Boise one of these years.

6/13 - Next Scheduled Bike Day

A few of us are heading to Bend OR this weekend through late Monday to participate in the Trek Dirt Series bike camp being held there (fun!). As most of us will be gone and the weather forecast is calling for rain next week, we will not be organizing an official ride and will plan on Monday, June 13th as our next ride.

If there happens to be a break in the weather next week and people are interested, we'll throw together an impromptu ride and post the location. :)

If not, I hope to see everyone out on the 13th. I will send more details on the trail/location as we get closer.

Have a wonderful weekend! For more information on the bike camp we're heading to, check out http://www.dirtseries.com/.
